Founded by João Sousa, a former tennis champion deeply connected to the city, the hotel reflects his journey both on and off the court. The restoration of the Palace began in 2015, with a vision to preserve its historical essence while adapting it to the needs of modern-day hospitality. João’s extensive experience on the world tennis circuit has infused the space with a rare, refined charm, balancing its timeless architectural features—such as its exquisite stucco ceilings—with a unique and luxurious décor.
The hotel offers 18 elegantly designed rooms, each with generous spaces over 30m², enveloping guests in a warm, noble atmosphere. Every detail is meticulously crafted to ensure comfort and provide a truly singular experience.
For those seeking a moment of serenity, Torel Royal Palace features an inviting outdoor swimming pool surrounded by lush greenery, offering a peaceful retreat within the city. The hotel’s first-floor terrace provides views over the historic heart of Guimarães, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can admire the city’s charm from above.
